Company History
In recent years, Hallstrom Holdings has been responsible for some of the most
successful - and, indeed, newsworthy! - shipwreck salvaging projects around the world. A
highly professional company, it is owned and operated by acclaimed salvor Sverker
Hallstrom. Often working closely with leading researchers, or in partnership with
other renowned salvaging companies, Hallstrom's passionate quest to uncover the mysteries
of some of the most well-known and elusive wrecks has led him across the globe on several
occasions.
The Company's solid, professional reputation was secured
when, in 1990, Hallstrom succeeded in recovering the magnificent 'Vung Tau' cargo. Dated
at 1690, the valuable Chinese porcelain was auctioned at Christie's Amsterdam in 1992 for
7.3 Million USD.
Apart from finding two 15th Century Thai junks in the South
China Sea carrying Celadon porcelain, one of the Company's latest - and most illustrious -
success stories is the recovery of gold from the Royal Mail Steamer 'RMS Douro', which
sank in 1882. A portion of the gold coins was sold in November 1996 at Spinks (owned by
Christie's), London, for 1.5 Million Pounds. But the bulk of this rare gold recovery will
soon be available to all collectors through shipwreckexplorer.com!
Hallstrom Holdings has also undertaken many commercial
ventures, locating two modern (20th century) wrecks carrying highly valuable commodity as
cargo, which have yet to be salvaged. Working on a contract basis, it has, in addition,
undertaken submersible operations in Vietnam, working closely with VISAL (Vietnam Salvage
Corporation) and Vietsovpetro (joint venture between Vietnam and Soviet Petroleum), to
carry out the complete survey and mapping of pipelines.
Hallstrom is continuously looking to utilize his particular
knowledge and skill in his search for other valuable shipwrecks. Some of his more recent
priorities have included wrecks such as the 'Soleil D'Orient'. Keep an eye on the Breaking News page to keep informed of Hallstrom Holdings'
recent discoveries and other points of interest. |
